Bees for sale?
  • Nucs
What characteristics do you use to select your breeding stock?
Survivability, mite counts and Honey production.
Where is the source of your bees and what strain(s) are they?
Purdue Ankle Biters crossed with Michigan Mutts. I've had 100% overwintering success with these gals for the last several years (knock on wood for this year).
Where do the bees overwinter?
In Plymouth and Lexington Michigan.
Do the bees spend the whole season in your home location? If not, where do they go and when, and for how long?
They stay home.
Do you monitor for varroa mites? How and how often?
I do monitor for varroa by the alchohol wash process and observing natural mite drop throughout summer and fall. I alternatly use Formic Pro and Oxolic Vapor depending on weather and brood presence.
Have your hives been inspected by an inspector?
Anything else?
These include overwintered 2021 queens in populated 5 frame medium nucs on cross wired wax foundation. Available in Jester EZ nuc boxes around mid May to early June depending on the weather.
