| What characteristics do you use to select your breeding stock?: | Surviving our Ohio winters is the number one priority. We also graft largely from hives that don't require mite treatments. We do test and treat for mites as necessary, but reproduce queens from the hives that don't need treatment. |
| Where is the source of your bees and what strain(s) are they?: | Source of bees is from splits made from overwintered colonies. We don't run a particular strain of bee. I suppose if pressed for an answer, many hives are headed by carnolian daughters from a II VSH carnolian cross. |
