We offer a "Beekeepress Apprenticeship" which is mentoring program for women, that runs through an eight month bee season, covering all aspects of foundational beekeeping. The Beekeepress Apprenticeship is a hands on experiential practicum incorporating women's spirituality studies.
We also facilitate the Benzie Beekeepers Guild and offer classes and workshops in our area
What characteristics do you use to select your breeding stock?:
We are featuring mated queens from our own survivor stock that has successfully over wintered our northern Michigan climate, exhibits some mite resistance and has a gentle disposition.
Where is the source of your bees and what strain(s) are they?:
Our local queen stock have been chosen out of thousands of Sleeping Bear Apiaries hives of bee's which exhibit qualities we admire such as good hygienic behavior and mite resistance, strong brooding patterns, which often lead to excellence in comb drawing, pollen and nectar gathering. these are typically Italian crosses.
We also have obtained and are grafting off a Purdue University "ankle biter" II queen mother and offer those daughters for sale

Do the bees spend the whole season in your home location? If not, where do they go and when, and for how long?:
The bee's we graft from do over winter the whole season, however I do take other bee's south for early spring build up
