| What characteristics do you use to select your breeding stock?: | Breeder queens are selected from colonies overwintered in Minnesota based on productivity, disease & pest resistance, and gentleness. Evaluation includes hygienic testing and regular Varroa mite counts. |
| Where is the source of your bees and what strain(s) are they?: | Like most bees in this country, they are primarily Carniolan and Italian. They have come from a variety of sources to promote diversity. All colonies are evaluated for a full year in Minnesota before they are moved in or near a mating yard. |
| Where do the bees overwinter?: | All hives overwinter in Central Minnesota. My bee yards are as far south as Waconia, MN, and as far north as St. Cloud, MN |
| Do the bees spend the whole season in your home location? If not, where do they go and when, and for how long?: | All hives stay in Minnesota. Four Seasons Apiaries is a non-migratory, year-round bee operation. |
